(Hampstead, MD) Middle school students urged to tune out in Oct. Sixth-graders at North Carroll Middle School in Hampstead are being encouraged to turn off the tube for the month of October.
“TV Busters,” a voluntary nationwide program, encourages children to refrain from unnecessary TV viewing and presents those who participate with awards and prizes.
The only catch is that students have to fill out “buster slips” — and have them signed by their parents — stating that they watched only news or educational programs.
